1-2-2011 A quick fly by

After Christmas and all the returns associated with the Season, and a cold front showing up for a change, we thought it'd be neat to see the new year in from some place warmer. We cranked the compass South.  Anahuac NWR is one of those places I always enjoy. Yes, the water is back. Though maybe not as much as wished, but still a lot more than in the past two years or so.
This Redtail was only one of many Hawks at the reserve.
The Northern Harrier, Kestrel, Crested Cara Cara and
Swanson were also represented.

This Hawk will hang out with anyone. I think the deal was the cold
wind that showed up over night and he had found a sunlit wind break.
